1. About Skylark Expeditions

At Skylark Expeditions, we are committed to providing safe, professional, and unforgettable travel experiences throughout Tanzania.

We warrant and represent that:

  • We hold all required licenses and permits to organize and operate mountain climbing expeditions, wildlife safaris, cultural tours, and other tourism activities within the United Republic of Tanzania.

  • We operate as a licensed tour operator. Except for selected accommodations, domestic and international flights, and other specified third-party services, all tours are organized and managed directly by Skylark Expeditions.

  • All information presented on our website, brochures, advertisements, and promotional materials is accurate and truthful. We do not exaggerate or misrepresent our services.

  • Our experienced team is committed to providing high-quality travel experiences while maintaining the highest standards of safety and customer service.

2. Booking and Payment

After confirming your booking, you will receive an official invoice containing your itinerary and payment instructions.

To secure your reservation:

  • A 50% deposit of the total tour cost is required.

  • Airline tickets, where applicable, require 100% payment at the time of booking.

Your reservation is confirmed once the required deposit has been received in our account. A Skylark Expeditions travel consultant will notify you immediately upon receipt.

Unless otherwise agreed in writing:

  • The remaining balance must be paid no later than 14 days before the tour departure date.

  • All tours must be fully paid before commencement.

Failure to make payments on time may result in cancellation of your booking, and deposits may be forfeited according to our cancellation policy.

Payment Fees

Clients are responsible for all transaction charges, including:

  • Bank transfer fees charged by both sending and receiving banks.

  • A 3.5% surcharge applies to all credit card payments.

If payments received are less than the required amount due to bank deductions or other charges, the outstanding balance must be settled upon arrival in Tanzania.

3. Bookings for Minors

  • Only individuals aged 18 years or older may make bookings with Skylark Expeditions.

  • Bookings for minors must be made by a parent or legal guardian.

  • The adult making the booking accepts these Terms & Conditions on behalf of the minor.

  • Minors must remain under adult supervision throughout the trip.

  • Skylark Expeditions does not provide childcare or supervision services.

  • Parents or guardians are solely responsible for ensuring minors possess all required travel documents and legal permissions.


4. Changes to Travel Dates

If you wish to change your travel dates after booking:

  • Written notice must be provided at least 60 days before the original departure date.

  • New travel dates must fall within 12 months of the original departure date.

Please note:

  • Domestic airlines generally do not permit ticket changes.

  • Hotels and lodges may charge amendment fees or higher seasonal rates.

Any additional costs arising from date changes are the client’s responsibility.

5. Prices

Once your booking has been confirmed, your tour price is guaranteed unless there is an official increase in:

  • National Park entrance fees

  • Government taxes

  • Tourism levies

  • Other mandatory government charges

Should such increases occur, Skylark Expeditions will provide official documentation.

Clients may either:

  • Accept the revised price and pay the difference; or

  • Cancel the booking and receive any applicable refund according to our cancellation policy.

6. Cancellation Policy

If you cancel your booking, the following cancellation charges apply:

Cancellation charges are calculated based on the total tour price.

In addition:

  • Any non-refundable expenses already incurred (including hotels, domestic flights, permits, or other prepaid services) will be deducted.

  • Bank charges and credit card processing fees are non-refundable.

Itinerary Changes

If you request itinerary changes after confirmation, Skylark Expeditions will make every reasonable effort to accommodate your request.

Where possible, a US$150 amendment fee plus any supplier charges will apply.

7. Pricing Information

Unless otherwise stated:

  • Prices are quoted in United States Dollars (USD).

  • Prices are based on two people sharing.

Tour prices do not include:

  • International airfare

  • Passport and visa costs

  • Travel insurance

  • Tips for guides, drivers, and hotel staff

  • Optional excursions

  • Personal expenses

  • Border taxes (where applicable)

Children’s discounts and peak-season supplements may apply.

All quotations remain valid for 14 days unless otherwise specified.

8. Travel Documents and Visas

It is the client’s responsibility to ensure they possess:

  • A valid passport with at least six months’ validity beyond the travel period.

  • All required visas and travel documentation.

Visa requirements vary by nationality.

Skylark Expeditions cannot be held responsible for denied entry resulting from missing or invalid travel documents.

9. Assumption of Risk

Adventure travel involves inherent risks.

By booking with Skylark Expeditions, you acknowledge and accept the risks associated with:

  • Wildlife encounters

  • High-altitude trekking

  • Remote travel

  • Changing weather conditions

  • Limited medical facilities

You voluntarily participate in these activities and assume responsibility for any associated risks.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Skylark Expeditions shall not be liable for injuries, illness, loss, damage, or death resulting from risks inherent in adventure travel.

10. Luggage and Valuables

Skylark Expeditions is not responsible for luggage delayed, lost, or damaged by airlines or third-party transportation providers.

Should your luggage arrive after your flight:

  • We may assist with communication with the airline.

  • Delivery charges from the airport to your hotel or our office remain the client’s responsibility.

Guests may request secure storage of valuables at our office. Items accepted for safekeeping will be stored securely, and Skylark Expeditions will assume responsibility while they remain in our custody.

11. Accommodation

Accommodation is reserved exclusively for the individuals named in the booking.

Clients agree to:

  • Respect accommodation rules.

  • Vacate rooms by 12:00 noon on departure day unless otherwise arranged.

  • Avoid causing damage or disturbance.

  • Pay for any damage, missing items, or lost keys resulting from negligence.

Subletting accommodation is strictly prohibited.

12. Flights and Travel Delays

Flight schedules are controlled by airlines and may change due to:

  • Weather

  • Air traffic restrictions

  • Operational requirements

  • Technical issues

Skylark Expeditions cannot accept responsibility for airline delays, cancellations, or missed connections.

Any compensation claims relating to flights must be made directly with the airline or through your travel insurance provider.

13. Medical Conditions and Disabilities

Clients with medical conditions or disabilities that may affect their travel experience must notify Skylark Expeditions before booking.

We may request medical clearance from a licensed physician where appropriate.

If we are unable to safely accommodate a client’s needs, we reserve the right to decline or cancel the booking in accordance with our cancellation policy.

14. Force Majeure

Skylark Expeditions shall not be liable for delays, cancellations, losses, or failure to perform services resulting from circumstances beyond our reasonable control, including but not limited to:

  • Natural disasters

  • Floods

  • Fires

  • Epidemics or pandemics

  • Government actions

  • Political unrest

  • War

  • Terrorism

  • Civil disturbances

  • Labour strikes

  • Extreme weather

  • Mechanical failures

  • Other unforeseen events

15. Governing Law

These Terms & Conditions shall be governed by and interpreted in accordance with the laws of the United Republic of Tanzania.

Any disputes arising from these Terms shall be subject to the jurisdiction of the competent courts of Tanzania.

16. Acceptance of Terms

By confirming a booking with Skylark Expeditions and making payment, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agreed to these Terms & Conditions in their entirety.
