Itinerary
Morning: Departure from Arusha or Moshi
Your adventure begins with a morning pick-up from your hotel in Arusha or Moshi. Enjoy a scenic drive through the countryside toward Materuni Village, located on the lower slopes of Mount Kilimanjaro.
Upon arrival, meet your local guide, who will introduce you to the village and explain the day’s activities before beginning your hike.
Guided Hike to Materuni Waterfall
Set off on a leisurely guided walk through lush coffee farms, banana plantations, and tropical rainforest. Along the way, your guide will share interesting information about local plants, traditional farming methods, and the culture of the Chagga community.
After approximately 45 minutes to one hour of walking, you’ll arrive at the magnificent Materuni Waterfall. Cascading from a height of over 80 meters, the waterfall creates a refreshing natural pool surrounded by vibrant greenery.
Take time to relax, capture beautiful photographs, or enjoy a swim in the cool mountain water.
Traditional Coffee Experience
After returning to the village, participate in an authentic Chagga coffee-making experience.
Learn how locally grown coffee beans are harvested, roasted over an open fire, ground by hand, and brewed using traditional methods. You’ll even have the opportunity to join in the roasting and grinding process while enjoying traditional songs performed by local villagers.
